IntelliTrac GPS Tracking to boost PMP earnings
Media group PMP Ltd says a new
global positioning system (GPS) that
will track the progress of people
delivering shopping catalogues will
improve its bottom line in years to
come.
GPS tracking, due to be launched in
Sydney in September, will be carried
by people delivering direct
marketing materials and give real
time updates on progress of delivery
and help improve delivery times.
PMP said 13 major retailers
including all Coles Myer Ltd brands,
Red Rooster, Hungry Jack's and Radio
Rentals had already signed up to use
the new system.
Chief executive Brian Evans said the
company's investment in GPS tracking
was not expected to have a material
impact on operating earnings in the
current financial year.
Earnings before interest and tax is
on track to between $80 million and
$85 million for 2005/06, he said.
Asked whether the introduction of
the system would impact PMP's bottom
line in 2006/07 and beyond, he
replied: "Most definitely."
"We are talking about a premium
product, and it is priced that way
and, from PMP's perspective, you can
see by the take-up that we have got
from the market place already that
people are excited about the new
model," he said.
PMP expects to introduce GPS
tracking early next year in other
capital cities.
The company said better pay for
letterbox delivery "walkers" would
also help to reduce the current high
turnover of staff, which is a common
problem across the industry.
