ollowing the successful launch of the X1 vehicle and portable tracking system platform, and the continual demand for applications in Plant and Equipment Tracking, Marine and Mining, IntelliTrac has ruggedised and made water resistant the X1 product line with the release of X1WR.
X1WR combines all existing features of the X1 family including the latest SiRF3 GPS receiver technology, GPRS communications, compact size, 12/24V auto switching, 36 hour internal backup battery system, 4 input, 4 outputs, serial data communications interface, voice facility and a series of smart features.
United Kingdom IntelliTrac distributor, Enigma Systems Plc, highlights the increasing value of aerial photography in aiding police in recovering stolen plant and equipment.
In the recent theft of new A-Plant excavators and compressors, the IntelliTrac system was used to guide police to recover stolen plant hidden in very remote locations throughout Great Britain.
To provide increased security for the company's vast fleet, A-Plant has placed orders worth over £500,000 with Enigma.
Asif Latief, Marketing Director at A-Plant, said: “We are delighted with the information and protection provided by the Enigma system.
The aerial images generated by the system are a powerful deterrent to the theft of A-Plant equipment, significantly reducing downtime and costs for both A-Plant and our customers.”
All equipment installed with the Enigma system remains in contact with the server all year round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so its status is available to A-Plant at all times. Access to the system is via dedicated A-Plant software on PCs at the company's headquarters in Warrington, Cheshire, and at over 230 locations around the country.
Once linked with the Enigma system, A-Plant personnel can request positions, geofence machines, (for additional theft protection) and monitor operating hours (per rental or accumulatively).
The ability to monitor running hours is one of a number of sensor options that can be provided by using the information ports available on the device at the centre of the Enigma system. Functions that can be monitored also include fuel level, battery level, coolant, engine on/off, ignition on/off, engine covers open/closed and so on.

ntelliTrac France exclusive distributor Nomadic Solutions, has developed and released MUXy Fleet, a contactless CANbus interface product range for the IntelliTrac X1 and X8 family.
MUXy Fleet captures CAN bus data without any electrical contact, therefore eliminating any intrusive connection into the vehicle’s electrical system, and hence eliminating any possible warranty issues.
MUXy Fleet provides a solution for requirements in fleet management, driver behaviour, and accident management applications.
A variety of data which is transferred within the vehicle’s CANbus is available for analysis. This includes:- kilometers travelled, fuel consumption, driver behavior, (speed, acceleration …), and maintenance information (levels, alarms).
Each vehicle gets its own CAN library, however in order to be free from this constraint and to keep data analysis operational, Nomadic Solutions provides a shape tool with MUXy Fleet. The shape tool allows developers and systems integrators to standardise the format of
CAN bus frames from different vehicles makes and models. Updates and configuration of the device are done through RS232 link thanks to a communication protocol similar to the IntelliTrac X1 and X8.
MUXy Fleet is especially suited for proactive Tier 1 Fleet operators, requiring combined GPS and real time engine management information.
For further information on MUXy Fleet please contact IntelliTrac Australia directly on 1300 767 492.
