Truck cameras that help Geelong's crews feel safe on every shift

City of Greater Geelong crews run IntelliTrac cameras around their trucks. Telling an aggressive member of the public they're on camera is often enough.
City of Greater Geelong crews run IntelliTrac cameras around their trucks and across the front. When a member of the public confronts a crew, the crew tells them they're on camera, and the person usually backs off quickly. The crews say the cameras make them feel safer and more confident on the job.

Footage to fall back on
Council trucks out early share the road with scooter riders dressed in black who speed past, and some residents confront crews over noise or about being in their area. Cameras covering every side of the truck mean the crew always has footage of what happened.
"We've got the camera as a backup, and then we let them know that they're on the camera."

Once people know they're being filmed, they back away pretty quickly.
More confident behind the wheel
For the crew, the cameras are about their own wellbeing as much as the truck. They describe feeling a lot more confident with cameras on board, and safer on early starts when people come up to abuse them.
