Fleet utilisation

GlossaryUpdated 10 July 2026

Fleet utilisation is the share of a vehicle's available time, or capacity, that is actually used for work, and it is the single number that reveals how many vehicles a fleet really needs.

A pool of twenty cars at thirty percent utilisation is a pool of roughly twelve cars wearing twenty cars' worth of leases, registration, insurance and parking. Utilisation makes that visible.

Measured from real booking and trip data rather than gut feel, it drives right-sizing: cutting genuinely idle vehicles while keeping enough to cover peak demand.
