In-vehicle monitoring system (IVMS)
An in-vehicle monitoring system is the telematics setup, common on mine and resources sites, that records vehicle location and driver behaviour such as speeding, seatbelt use and harsh driving.
IVMS is the term the mining and resources sector uses for what road fleets call telematics. Site operators commonly mandate IVMS for contractor vehicles before they are allowed on site, with specific event types and reporting expected.
If a client site requires IVMS, the practical checklist is: approved device fitted, events configured to the site standard, and reporting the site accepts.
