How does IntelliTrac help with FBT on pool cars?

IntelliTrac captures who used each pool car, why they used it, the odometer reading and where the car was kept overnight. This information is collected throughout the year, so your team does not have to rebuild it at tax time.

What information do we need for FBT?

The statutory formula uses the number of days a car was available for private use. A car kept at or near an employee's home can count as available even when it is not driven. The operating cost method uses a valid logbook to work out the business and private share of use. Both methods need odometer readings. The FBT guide explains the rules in plain language.

What does IntelliTrac capture?

  • Every booking puts a named driver and a purpose against the vehicle.
  • Trips are classified business or private, with a logbook view in the driver app.
  • Odometer readings are captured at booking start and end, from devices, and at refuelling.
  • Home garaging can require approval and confirmation of the actual return date, which helps prevent days from being missed.

What still needs a driver?

IntelliTrac captures the trip details, but the driver still needs to state the purpose of each business trip. The ATO does not accept "business" by itself as a trip purpose. Drivers can add the specific reason in the app instead of keeping a separate paper logbook.
