How does IntelliTrac help claim fuel tax credits?

IntelliTrac links fuel purchases to each vehicle, separates road and off-road travel, and applies the rate for the date the fuel was bought. This gives your accountant vehicle and journey data to check before lodging the claim.

Why does the journey data matter?

Fuel tax credit rates differ between heavy-vehicle travel on public roads and eligible off-road or auxiliary use. The rate also depends on when the fuel was bought. The ATO checks claims based on telematics data, so the road and off-road split needs to be supported by your own fuel and journey data. The fuel tax credits guide explains the rules in plain language.

What data does IntelliTrac collect?

  • Each fuel transaction, whether it was imported or entered by a user.
  • The vehicle that received the fuel.
  • Road and off-road journey sections.
  • The rate that applied when the fuel was bought.
  • Odometer readings entered at refuelling, so litres and distance can be checked together.

Who checks the final claim?

IntelliTrac works out the road and off-road split and keeps the supporting data. Your organisation and accountant remain responsible for checking registrations, the final figures and the claim.
