Can I track a fleet without GPS hardware?
Yes. The IntelliTrac driver app can track work trips before GPS devices are fitted. This removes the hardware barrier at the start of a rollout, but it is an alternative to installed telematics, not a replacement for it. IntelliTrac devices are the recommended choice when you need reliable vehicle data, faster updates, driver identification or video.
How can we start before installation?
- Bring in your vehicle list, service history and costs with the spreadsheet import.
- Invite drivers to use the IntelliTrac driver app for active work trips and bookings.
- Plan device installation around vehicle availability, usually depot by depot.
This lets the software rollout begin while devices are being assigned and installed. It is especially useful for pool cars, light vehicles and short pilots.
What data does phone tracking collect?
During an active trip or booking, the app collects location, speed and direction about once a minute. It can show the trip on the same map as device-tracked vehicles. The app must be running, and it does not receive ignition, engine, tamper, driver ID or camera data from the vehicle.
When should we fit an IntelliTrac device?
Fit a device when you need continuous tracking, faster location updates, ignition and engine data, driver identification, driving events, tamper alerts or camera footage. You can mix phone-tracked and device-tracked vehicles while installation is completed across the fleet.
