Intelligent Access Program (IAP)

GlossaryUpdated 10 July 2026

The Intelligent Access Program is a national scheme that grants heavy vehicles extra road access, such as higher mass limits on certain routes, in exchange for continuous telematics monitoring by a certified provider.

IAP is administered through Transport Certification Australia. Vehicles enrolled in IAP report position and configuration through certified telematics, and road managers use that assurance to open networks that would otherwise be closed to them.

Related TCA applications include the Telematics Monitoring Application and Road Infrastructure Management, which serve similar assurance needs with lighter requirements.
